Yoga

My Westhoughton Yoga Class

I’m an experienced Hatha yoga teacher with additional, specialist training in Yin, Restorative, Chair yoga and Yoga for Menopause. My teaching also refers to the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of yoga practice, helping you to understand and connect with your true self. I teach yoga in community settings in Westhoughton, Bolton, and online.

My friendly, supportive, Westhoughton Yoga Class draws on different yoga styles, to offer static postures and flowing sequences, breathing, meditation and relaxation techniques. Our class is more than simply a class, it’s a lovely, supportive community and you will be made to feel very welcome.

My Westhoughton Yoga Class has so many benefits including improving strength and bone density, stabilising blood pressure, improving circulation, reducing physical, mental, and emotional tension, and helping you cope with life’s challenges.

This weekly class runs on MONDAYS over 6 consecutive weeks (except for some public holidays) with each 6-week block taking a particular theme as its focus.

MONDAYS, 7pm – 8:15pm at The John Holt Centre, BL5 2NR.

Suitable for experienced and beginners alike.

Limited class size to allow for a supportive space with a friendly community feel.

Why do I have blocks of 6 classes? Because you will only benefit from yoga by making a commitment to yourself to practice regularly. However, I do sometimes have single classes available!

Yin Yoga

I have an in-person monthly Yin class, 7pm – 8:15pm, The John Holt Community Centre, Westhoughton, BL5 2NR. To book click on ‘Timetable’ and you will be directed to the booking site.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin is a style of yoga that involves slowly moving into shapes or postures, finding your ‘edge’ – a depth where you can comfortably hold a stretch for several minutes or more, before slowly moving out of the shape into a ‘rebound’ which allows tissues to return to their original state.

  • Helps improve range of movement, hydrates tissues and aids mobility – great for all ages and especially those over 40.
  • Reduces recovery time and improves function of muscles after working out at the gym, running cycling, swimming… and other more physically activity.
  • Switches off the adrenaline fuelled ‘fight or flight’ response, guiding you to a restful, balanced state of body and mind.

No experience is required. But please note yin yoga is mainly a floor-based practice and so is unsuitable for those who cannot get down on the floor.
